Baby portraiture for Hari Kaamatan, the harvest festival for Sabahans.
This year for the first time I organised a #Movember #charity challenge at my company. Movember (a portmanteau of the Australian-English diminutive word for moustache, “mo”, and “November“) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s healthissues, such as depression in men, prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities.
I’ve had numerous family members and friends who have lost their lives to cancer, who are suffering from it now, and those who have survived this life changing disease. Though many we usually hear about are women, but let’s not forget that men too are victims of this disease.
A total of 13 men took part in this awareness campaign, and we had 3 sponsors. Sponsors are those who contribute $$ to see their candidates keep a moustache. By default for every candidate that took part, Rm50 was donated. At the end of November with many others jumping on the charitable act, a total of RM1,350 was collected, and donated to Mt Miriam Cancer Hospital (non-profit) (http://www.mountmiriam.com/) to assist needy patients.
Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital is a not-for-profit single disciplined cancer hospital which boasts of the latest-state-of-the-art cancer treatment in the Northern Region of Malaysia. To date, we have been treating cancer patients with three Linear Accelerators, PET-CT Scanner, and other diagnostic tools.
